Swaziland

Swaziland changed its name to the Kingdom of eSwatini in April 2018. The name change was announced by King Mswati III, during the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Swazi independence and his 50th birthday. The new name, eSwatini, means "land of the Swazis".

Currency

The lilangeni (plural: emalangeni, ISO 4217 code: SZL) is the currency of eSwatini. It is issued by the Central Bank of eSwatini. South African rand (ZAR) bank notes (but not coins) are accepted in eSwatini. The eSwatini Lilangeni (SZL) is pegged at par to the South African Rand (ZAR).
